Upgraded Software with many new features

Puntos Fuertes: * Outstanding features for office applications. * Improved Excel Formulae & Conditional formatting options. * Includes Microsoft Expression Media * Compatible with Office 2007 and previous versions

Puntos Débiles: * Only drawback is its Price * Some bugs in compatibility with previous version. It says there is a problem but never say the actual problem. * Several changes compared to previous versions.

I have tried many software for my day to day Office applications to keep my Budget low. But I never satisfied with options available in other competitive products in the market. I use Spread sheet a lot for my daily tracking applications. The powerful formulae and conditional formatting options of Office 2008 are exceptional. I also use VB coding for some of my applications.

It is a single package comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage and Messenger for mac.

It has in built Microsoft Exchange Server Support.

Overall I am very satisfied with this software and it pays for its price.

MS Office: Mac 2008 Special Media Edition

Puntos Fuertes: Full featured

Puntos Débiles: Expensive, slow on older Macs

This package is a worthy upgrade of Office 2004. Features and integration with WIndows have been improved. This has all the bells and whistles meant for the power user. A casual user will most likely be happy with the regular or Student and Home version at a lower price. New code means optimization for Intel-based Macs. This is good if you have a newer Mac, but the suite thusly runs slower on older Macs. But one really can't complain too much for moving forward and not looking back. Expression Media is a nice file manager. Overall, a good upgrade to the king of office suites.

Two steps forward, one step back.

Puntos Fuertes: Native Intel app - finally!

Puntos Débiles: They took away VBA!

It's great that Office 2008 is the newest Office from Microsoft for the Mac, newer than the latest version for the PC (Office 2007)! Office 2008 is also the first Mac version to run natively on Apple's newest Intel architecture built inside their Macs. However, Microsoft removed VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), which is the programming language used for macros, primarily in Excel. I always assumed Office exists for the Mac to maintain interoperability between its PC counterpart. Since Excel is a ubiquitous tool in business, macros are now going to break on the Mac. Not a very smart move on Microsoft's part IMHO.

Nice upgrade to Office 2004

Puntos Fuertes: Better compatibility with Windows version

Puntos Débiles: Not fully compatible with Windows version...

I have upgraded both version of Microsoft Office at home. I now have Office 2007 on my PC and Office 2008 on my new Macbook.

The software works very well in the Mac. The interface is actually nicer on the Mac than on the PC. I have a new Macbook, with Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) installed, and the software actually loads faster than Office 2004.

Although it has improved compatibility between the Windows and Mac versions, it is not fully compatible yet. I have several macros written on visual basic for the PC that do not work on the Mac version. This a major drawback for me, as it limits my ability to work on both computers for a given project.

Tries a bit too hard

Puntos Fuertes: Fast on Intel Macs, Decent compatibility with Windows Office

Puntos Débiles: Unintuitive UI, feautre parity not quite there

Well this is for better or for worse a must have update for Intel Mac users. The price though is quite high for what new features you get. The aps share many of the same advantages and disadvantages. First, the UI tries too hard to be Apple like and fails. It's hard to find many things that I know from the Windows version. Second, unlike Apple's own aps, the use of screen area is poor. Toolbars and other items take up sizable portions of your display. Also, I'm not sure what must have feature this version has over prior versions. Sure it supports XML documents, but that isn't all that important. I would consider looking into iWork if I only used a Mac, but the compatibility, Exchange support etc. make this a must have for many.

A Somewhat worthwhile upgrade

Puntos Fuertes: New interface, universal binary support, less buggy while using

Puntos Débiles: Extremely slow compared to Office 2004 on a PowerPC computer. Takes a lot longer to load.

I was excited that Microsoft was bringing an update to the Office suite, making it compatible with the new formats that Office 2007 introduced. However, I was somewhat disappointed by the differences from the Windows version. Its not as brilliantly designed in my opinion. However, it keeps the general Mac feel intact (which is a bonus in a way). It works, but not as well as the ribbon system that 2007 has. There are some nice upgrades as the graphics and integration is better done. However, it takes a very long time to load on my iBook 1.33 ghz computer compared to the 2004 version. I would not have purchased this product for the full price, as I don't see enough of a difference (I'm only a student). Perhaps this office suite can suit power users better. Overall, upgrade only if needed. If not necessary to open the new file formats, use the old 2004 version.

Expensive, but does the job very well!

Puntos Fuertes: Well integrated

Puntos Débiles: Price

After using for about a week, I am very happy with this package. Its well integrated and almost all components interact with each other without any hiccups. Expression Media is very nice to have to manage all types of media, be it photos or music. Word is almost like a desktop publisher now, most people will not use 80% of the features.

Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 (Special Media Edition)

THE GOOD: Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 offers good looks that encompass deeper features than other Mac productivity software; business users get full Word mail merge, robust Excel spreadsheets, and better tools in Entourage; amateur desktop publishing features more polished documents; runs on Intel-based Macs. THE BAD: Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 is pricey; saves work in new file formats by...
