SimCity is a misnomerPuntos Fuertes: Graphically, it looks great. Puntos Débiles: Feels like a beta version. Crashes a lot. Waiting for publisher to release 3rd patch. Why this game is called SimCity is beyond me. EA should not loan out their franchise if a developer can't live up to past versions. You're better off buying or sticking with SimCity 4. I got this game as a $25 special on-line in December, but it still seems too much. It constantly crashed on Vista and the developer is promising a 3rd patch to address the issue. I'm putting this one back on the shelf and hoping SimCity 5 can redeem this abomination! Do not buy. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

SimCity Societies
The past summer, here in southwest Idaho, saw a lot of road construction, and building construction taking place. Each time driving, navigating the detours and trying to avoid inevitable delays proved fruitless – which often resulted in mutterings centering on the poor planning and timing. Why is this relevant? Easy, a new Sim City title has released and rather than mutter about how you could... Tope |
Not completely a "SimCity" title-- more a "city...
Puntos Fuertes: Some interesting concepts, good graphics
Puntos Débiles: Strays too far from the SimCity formula, buggy
Not entirely sure why this got the SimCity name, but this game is not part of the "true" SimCity series (2, 3000, 4, etc). This is more of a strange offshoot that tried some drastically different ideas-- some of which are really good ideas, some not so good, but unfortunately they're not particularly well implemented (And the game is so buggy that you may get frustrated before you see the results).
In past SimCity games, you've been a very micromanaging mayor of a city-- laying down power lines, roads, zoning for building, etc. However, in this game, most of that is gone and instead you're building a "society" by controlling different aspects of it-- spirituality, authority, etc. In a way it's a really good idea, and maybe had the game not been branded "SimCity" it would have worked better. The problem is the game plays nothing like SimCity, and the rules feel very arbitrary as to how the city's energies play against each other.
That said, the game's user interface and graphics are very well done-- that part definitely has some amount of "Sims" heritage to it.
A very ambitious game that tried very hard to be something different, but sadly just didn't make it. Not to mention the fact that it basically shipped incomplete and you NEED to patch it up as soon as you get it in order to have a functional game! All that said, I am giving it 3 stars-- it has some great ideas and a very deeply flawed execution. 2 stars feels a bit too low, but I probably would've liked to give it 2.5 stars. I have a feeling that the ideas found here will be back again in another game, better executed, and will be a great game. Until then... try this if you're feeling experimental.
