I was expecting hard rockin' guitar riffs with that 70s feel, but instead it's a non-stop party album which took me a while to get used to but the more and more I did, I can appreciate Lenny's ability to branch out to different sounds. He is truly not a one dimensional artist. A great turnaround from the dark and moody "Circus" album. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

The only comparison that I can draw is to Macy Gray. Yes, Macy Gray, the one who makes me run for my earplugs. Goodness, Lenny is not good, but it's hard to rate him as low as Macy Gray. Well maybe not that extreme, but the man is talented. 5 is a series of songs that tell his stories from his mother's death to songs for his daughter. His soul is expressed through his music. The single from "5" was "Fly", but I thought songs like "Black Velveteen" were more interesting. Overall, I found this album to be a good, mellow, late-night album. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? You get the typical Kravitz-guitar rock in songs like, "I want to get away" and "American Woman". Kravitz also mixes in some funk/blues in tracks like, "Straight Cold Player". Actually, despite the mainstream success that this album experienced with all the trendy kids that wear Hilfinger and AE Fitch stuff, this album rocks. Lenny's funk influence shines throughout. I continue to keep this album in regular rotation. Some might say that he is overly concerned about image...who cares...the guy can back it up...he knows how to write great tunes...and he has proven this over and over again for 15+ years.
