Bleak, black and maybe that's life
Puntos Fuertes: Unrelenting suspense, with well-developed characters that you want to keep your eyes glued to, in case they turn out to be even more dangerous.
Puntos Débiles: Not what you'd call inspirational, but I guess that wasn't the intention.
"No Country for Old Men" - is there a hero in this story? If there is, he loses the battle between good and evil....or did he rush to meet the inevitable consequence because of his greed?
Is there a villain? If there is, so-called justice never catches up with him. Or, maybe it does.
Is there a girl? There is one, and we're not sure whether the coin-toss saves her life, or vaporises it. Maybe she thought she was in the clear.
The bounty hunter (if that's what he is) overestimates his abilities, or maybe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong second. We'll never know.
The sheriff ponders methods and motives, and even though he stumbles on the answers, he doesn't recognise them for what they are. He is going to retire, anyway.
This story is real, in the sense that there are no happy endings. Things are left unexplained. The characters are black and white; yes, both black and white in each, depending on your viewpoint. The "hero" steals from dead men. The psychopath has a sense of fate and fairness. And coins might have more power than we thought.
In the end, we are left to question whether "hero" and "villain" are just fairytale pigeonholes for human behaviour. And whether the love of money can truly be blamed for most of the evils in the world.
