One of my favorite movies of all-time. Completely changed my opinion on Batman. Far away the greatest superhero movie EVER. Christian Bale is amazing as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The rest of the cast is incredible...Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Ken Watanabe, Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman...wow. YOU GOTTA LOVE IT. Oh yeah and Christopher Nolan is an absolute GENIUS. And that car chase sequence is INSANE.

Great action combined with a film that went deep inside the mind of Batman/Bruce Wayne. This was much better than the cartoonish Batman's of the 90's.

better than the previous Batman films, but still missed the mark. where is Batman the master detective? Batman, the master of discuise? Etc... Liam Nieson seemed a little too Quigon in this

First, I could not watch ONE of the previous Batman movies, I watched about 20 minutes of each and just turned them off, they were horrible IMO.   But this movie was EXCELLENT!  The best by far.  It actually had a story behind it and you actually started caring for Batman as a person, no small thanks to Bale as an actor, he was excellent, and hot too--LOL  The story was a bit more grim and gritty than the others which were more cartoonish.   I think Bale is a rather under-rated actor, maybe because he is so handsome, but he can act very well and I was glad to hear he has started shooting another Batman movie.   I hope Katie Holmes is left out of the next movie as she was the only weak point in this movie, she looked way too young and just did not have the acting chops the rest of the cast did.

Best Batman movie by far. It had an interesting plot and it played to a more adult audience. Batman or Bruce Wayne was in most of the scenes unlike the past attempts at making a Batman movie. An 75% of it was not shot in the dark which was a much welcomed change.

The Saving of the franchise. Did Bates do it? Well, it was a good prequel to the series/movies, and was well executed by Bates through his acting. Action packed, super hero living, and the usual nice DC Comics infused storyline money can buy. I just hope the producers keep producing well done films like this, specially for the fans of the caped crusader.

Christian Bale does an  excellent job in bring Batman to life for a younger generation.  Definately a great movie and comparable if not better than the earlier movies.  Deeper plot than earlier titles and (finally) a real life account of Bruce Wayne's history.

After this movie hit the theaters, the Batman franchise was officially re-born. Before it came out, I was excited to see Christopher Nolan ("Memento" and "Insomnia") directing this. He surpassed even my highest expectations. This movie starts the Batman story from the very beginning with a dark atmosphere, in a world similar today's society. You feel as if Batman could really exist today. The acting all around is perfect with Christian Bale leading the way as a very believeable Bruce Wayne/Batman (no Mr. George Clooney, playing yourself does not make you Batman!). The writing may be the best for any comic book film, and it should have been nominated for Best Screenplay at the Oscars. In fact, the writing is so good, you may have to watch the movie at least two times to truly appreciate it. The music is also very good, and it really helps the final climatic action sequence. This is far and away the best comic book film released to date, and I can't wait for the sequel in 2008!

all i can say about this film is it blew all the other cheesey ass batman movies away and left me wanting to be a super hero again just like when i was litle.

I was relieved to see the Batman franchise be successfully resurrected almost a decade after the cheesy horror that was "Batman and Robin". Puns were traded in for dry sarcasm and the bat-nipples were left out entirely. Christian Bale did an outstanding job juggling the dual personas of both Batman as well as Bruce Wayne. This Batman was dark and a little creepy with a sense of animosity. The supporting cast was also excellent except I really didn't care about what happened to Katie Holmes. But I'm glad that the walking piece of tabloid fodder failed to drag this movie down. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a film version of the dark knight returns. But Frank Miller might be busy with the sin city sequels for a while.

Not a bad film, but I generally am not fond of sequels (or in this case, prequels), that essentially disregard the storylines presented in previous films. Standing alone, this is a good film, but really only stands as mediocre in my book because of its inconsistency with the first four films.

This was a pleasant listing I hit by accident. . .love this movie. . .the other Batman movies were Hollywood slop. .. this one has a brain. Terrific supporting cast- Micheal Caine AND Morgan Freeman?!

Well, Redoedo, it's not really in the universe of the first four films. It's a completely different interpretation of the comic book. Don't related this movie to the Burton films anymore than you'd relate the Burton films to the 60s series. Completely different animals.

It was a very tyght movie! All most every characters stayed true to themselves. The villians made an odd combo but Were good. I liked the way Ras Al Ghul was in the "death" scene because many Bat-Fans know he doesn't die easy. I'll bet that his assassins guild took his body to the Lasurus Pit moments after. I have one major issue about it though, it was the part when Bruce goes tries to kill hes parents murderer Bruce would NEVER EVER use a gun. I don't care if it was his parents killer it is not true to his character to use a weapon on ment for killing humans. That one ther cost my rating a star, sadly. On a minor note I thought Alfred's character came off pretty lame, I think the other film's Alfred was much better. But that aside perfect addaptatation.

One of the more realistic batman movies I suppose, but I found it rather irratating to watch. Christian Bale was pretty annoying, but especially so when he got in the bat suit. I never quite understood why he would lower his voice when he was batman...at any rate, I didn't find it very scary. Katie Holmes was nothing but eye-candy throughout the film, never adding anything pertinent to the plot. However, I thought scarecrow was an excellent villian, and they depicted him in a really cool way. His evil scheme to pollute the waterways though, was not exactly original. Overall this movie is ok, one I might watch again, but definitely not purchase.

A true surprise of a movie -- just when you think you'd had enough of these lazy superhero movies where bad writing, dialogue, production, editing, acting is disguised in "it's a comic book" excuses... Bam! Wham! Pow! Here comes a thoughtful, inspection of the beginnings that will impress Batman fans and movie fans. You get lost in the beginning. The Gotham scenes are more ordinary. But, this IS the best Batman film by a longshot. In fact, if Jack played the Joker here... and was incorporated into the last 30-minutes -- over the weaker stretched plot of tainted 'crazy water'... you would have had the BEST superhero film of all time.

Good, though the first half of it was better than the 2nd. Caine , Oldman and Freeman, excellent actors all, were good as usual, and Bale did a better job than the simply miscast Michael Keaton, Kilmer, or Clooney did before him. The guy who played The Scarecrow, who I think did a fantastic job, Cillian Murphy, is a terrific actor whose talent is being wasted in horror films and thrillers. He's one to keep an eye on in the future, as his potential is enormous, though he's in danger of becoming typecast.

This is what “Batman” should have been all along. “Batman Begins” abandoned its cheesy, campy predecessors (like any of the ones that had Robin in it, and the crappy one-liners, and seriously, why did they put nipples on the Bat costume? Really . . . ) and goes for the darker, brooding Batman that fans actually LIKE. (Well, some at least; I’ve read a few reviews here and there that complain that the movie isn’t “fun”, and that “you don’t get to see him as Batman until halfway through the movie” . . . well, I could only assume that they didn’t read the TITLE of the film before entering the theater). Christian Bale is an excellent choice for a young Bruce Wayne and a new Batman, who is trying to figure out himself (while clumsily trying to figure out how to go about balancing his new hobby and playing a multi-millionaire playboy at the same time.) Haunted by the tragedy that brought him into his new line of work, “Batman Begins” sets Wayne off, lost, angry and confused, until he finds a mentor (played by Liam Neeson). He later returns to Gotham to face his first challenge as Batman. Butler Alfred and Lucius Fox (Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman) both provide some lightheartedness without drowning out the mood. And they don’t draw out any sappy love stories, either, which is always a plus. I think I speak for a lot of Batman fans when I say this: It's about freaking time they did this right!
