Amazing Movie!!Puntos Fuertes: voice, songs Puntos Débiles: None My family loves this movie simply because we love music. We've watch it about 5 or more times. Emma Rossum's voice is beautiful, clear and much better than the original Live broadway show voice. The lyrics are soulful, powerful and catchy. A MUST for broadway musical fans!! ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

n/aPuntos Fuertes: Captures the energy of the play Puntos Débiles: eighties guitar...enough said A big fan of Phantom of the Opera, I was looking forward to the movie coming out. Although it didn't live entirely up to my expectations, over all the movie had very interesting scenes visually. I also thought the characters were well scripted, and the singing was satisfactory(although at the risk of sounding like a theatre snob, not up to par with the actual play itself). The only time the movie really irratated me, was when one of the phantom songs started breaking out with eighties guitar screeching; lame, dumb, tasteless, and horrifying. The old phantom had eighties synth., which I expected, and kind of enjoy. However, the eighties guitar was out of place, not to mention offensive to your auditory senses. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...Even though the guy who played the Phantom also starred in Good Burger, this movie was about as funny as a basket of soggy fries. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...Oh my goodness, I loved this movie. I was skeptical at first because film just doesn't have the same spark as a live Broadway show but this totally blew me away. Its beautiful to watch and Emmy Rossum, who plays Christine, is fantastic. She has a true talent. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...I was fortunate enough to get to see this on broadway and I was captivated...so naturally when the movie came out I was really excited. I loved the fact that in the movie they add a background story for the phantom. It is a beautifully done movie. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...I absolutely LOVED the music and the fact that the actors actually sung for themselves. Even though the Carlotta had to have someone do the singing for her, that woman was still great. It did get a little boring, but of course all movies do once in a great while. The musical scenes were very long but they had astounding mise en scene throughout the entirety of the movie. POTO had such a well built and decorated set. I especially love the Phantom's layer with countless candleabras. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...Nowadays, people don't seem to understand the word TALENT!!! (Singing, Dancing, Costumes, Settings A++++) The Phantom of the Opera is an excellent movie that was well written and composed in an excellent fashion. Not only was the plot interesting but the settings were very beautiful and the music was spectacular. Whether you enjoy classical music or not surely you can appreciate the effort that was put into this film. The amount of practice that went into composing and performing these pieces is incredible and you can tell it in the actors and actresses appearance on the set. It is a sweet love story filled with much passion. GREAT TALENT - I kid you not, these people can actually sing unlike a lot of people in today's society. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...3 and a half hours of singing, that could've been summed up in about half and hour. If you like musicals than you'll love it, but if you don't, please don't watch it! You'll be bored to death just like I was. By the way, I thought that the Phantom was supposed to be this charred, disfigured man? In this inactment, he was almost handsome. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...Puntos Fuertes: Good triumphs over Evil and Sadness..Great Story Puntos Débiles: That everyone can't see it ! Music & Acting were incredible. Emmy Rossum is hard to take your eyes off, Minnie Driver is the best Diva I've ever seen ! Gerald Butler is haunting in his portrayal of this haunted soul ! It should have won many awards. I saw it in the theater twice. I was a bit embarrassed that I went again. Then just as the movie ended, a group of ladies stood up in front of me. They were three rows ahead of me. In a very audible voice I heard one of the ladies quip..Wow that was as good as the first time I saw it ! I was vindicated! So Ladies and music lovers ! Turn off the phone, shut out the lights and just let it sweep you away ! ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...This film is 'a disaster beyond your imagination', in the words of the play it so feebly parodies. The casting is utterly bizarre - Emmy Rossum as the young ingenue has a voice that could not be heard from behind a newspaper, let alone fill an opera house. Gerard Butler who plays the eponymous musical genius cannot sing at all. The Gothic ethos of the stage production has been replaced in the film with a nauseating whirl of reds and pinks. The feeling of the film is much more Disney than Gothic. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...Puntos Fuertes: Amazing adaptation of the play, and fairly accurate from Leroux's original book. Strong casting, music (of course), cinematography was better than average, set and costume design, WOW! Puntos Débiles: Some issues with sync during songs, changes in original music confusing, and storyline vastly different than the play. I don't know why companies pay these critics; for once, it would be nice to have a critic who has actually TRIED to make a film! Then they would know how difficult it is! ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera...Puntos Fuertes: Everything! The music was wonderfully sang and played, the actors were brilliant. Puntos Débiles: nothing The movie is nothing short as good as the opera. It's the best stage production gone movie. This has to be one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best. I would go see it more than a million times in the theater, because it feels so real to be there watching it. the sounds are terrific. They make me feel like I am Christine. This movie is worth every penny anyone spends on it and more! i loved it! ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera
The music of the night has hit something of a sour note: Critics are calling the screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular musical histrionic, boring, and lacking in both romance and danger. Still, some have praised the film for its sheer spectacle. TopePublicidad |
Loved it
Puntos Fuertes: Great music, great singing from the principals
Puntos Débiles: 2.33 theatrical widescreen format. I would have preferred optimized for 16:9 HDTV format
Ok, we saw the original Broadway production with Michael Crawford. We loved the live stage performance, and we also loved the dvd version. I say that because many on the internet who saw the original seemed to dislike the dvd version.
I agree with Mr. Webber, they did not stray that far from the original. The dvd version seemed to fill in some blanks for me, anyhow.
