This movie kept me interested the entire time. It was mind boggling how a guy can evade police for so long and take on so many identities. I thought this movie deserved five stars because it kept me intrigued. Not many movies can do that for me. And DiCapprio wasn't bad either; he's always been a hottie.

I am not a Decapprio fan but this was entertaining. The story doesn't slow down very often but does sag towards the end. Not the worst 2 hours one could spend watching a drama.

Based on the real life of the con artist Frank Abagnale jr who had pulled off more cons before he reached the age of 18 than anyone in history. Terrific performance by Leonardo DiCaprio. His charisma was perfect for the role. Christopher Walken and Tom Hanks are excellent in their roles. Not only is their a human element to this movie, but it is highly entertaining. An amazing true story, some of the stuff Mr Abagnale pulled will blow your mind.

Leonardo DiCaprio is Frank Abagnale, Jr. in a true story of a runaway turned counterfeiter and con artist. Frank leaves home the day he learns his parents are going to divorce, when he is forced to choose between them. At just 16 years old he goes on to impersonate a co-pilot, gleaning information posing as a school newspaper reporter. When he is on the verge of being discovered he simply reinvents himself and finds happiness as a doctor, though not in treating patients. He must lie low, because he knows nothing of medicine and the sight of blood and bone from a child's broken leg make him sick. What he does find is the woman with whom he will fall in love. Circumstances again change and he ends up working as a lawyer for his fiance's father.

Frank tries to leave all of his problems behind, in his old life, but he learns the hard way that the past is always there and that everything will catch up to you. No matter who he pretends to be, he cannot elude himself. Near the end we get to see DiCaprio's ability in a scene where Frank is on the verge of a breakdown that has been long in coming.

The man partly responsible for that breakdown and, ultimately, the one who saves him is Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks in a slightly one-dimensional role), an FBI agent pursuing Frank endlessly for years, staking his reputation on this one case. He and his partners provide many moments of comic relief, due to the fact that they are usually more than a step behind. Throughout most of the film, it feels as if Carl is just playing a game. Though, he redeems himself in the end when he actually turns into a feeling person. He realizes that he is starting to care for Frank, not just as a collar, but as a young man who's life took a wrong turn. It turns out that Carl had a reason to be closed-off, but I think the writer(s) might have done well earlier on to flesh out the character by infusing a touch more humanity.

Last, but nowhere near least, Christopher Walken - as Frank Abagnale, Sr. - delivers a beautiful, achingly vulnerable portrayal of a wounded and weary heart. His eyes convey such devastating loneliness that it is hard to watch. Here is a man who looses his business, his car, his home, his wife and then his son; working all his life to ultimately end up with nothing. In a restaurant scene, he starts crying while reminiscing on the day he and his wife met. He tries to choke back the tears and the more sensitive of us will be doing the same. Unfortunately, in 2 hours and 16 minutes (or so) a relatively small amount of screen time is spent with Frank's father.

Great actors can make us forget that we are only watching a movie. They affect us, sometimes in deeply personal ways. They let us see their hearts. Mr. Walken is of that class. You will want to see more of him.

Even though the movie is lengthy, it does not delve deep enough into each succeeding profession that Frank deftly slides his way into. I would have liked to see a few more scenes with Frank evading capture, by both the FBI and his "employers," and some more and deeper conversations with his father. Even so, Catch Me if You Can is a wonderful true story that is funny, tender and tragic. If you love movies, then this one should not be missed.

NOTE: Just so everyone knows, I wanted to give this film 4-1/2 stars, but Price Grabber does not allow for that.

My favorite movie of the year. It was a bit long, but I really liked it. It's the kind of movie you want to buy on video or DVD. I just got mine! Watch this movie; you won't regret it.

Pretty good movie. about Frank Abagnale,who was a teenage con artist. I read the book too so I was interested in seeing the movie. As usual the book and movie have their differences. Leonardo Dicaprio did a fine job as frank who wrote over 4 million dollars worth of bad checks and posed, as an airline pilot, doctor, even passed the bar test for a lawyer. amazing young man. Awfully long though.tom Hanks was good too.

music great LDC is back in a role written for him & some shot in Québec CW is pretty good in a departure for him Amazing that with what is going on in the world today that this could take place 2 generations ago! TH overrated

I don't normally like Leonardo DiCaprio but he was really good in this movie. It was a cute movie, lots of funny moments, and amusing to know that it was based on a true story.

A really enjoyable film overall. Leondardo Di Caprio was perfect in the lead role, because he's eternally youthful looking and therefore he could pass for the 16 year old kid he was supposed to be and still make it plausible that he could fool all these people into thinking he was 28. Although the film was very funny, it was also really poignant as well. It's really the story of a young man whose family is very scewed up, and they don't provide him with what he needs. It's kind of sad actually, and the relationship that develops between DiCaprio and Tom Hanks (who plays the cop trying to catch him) is really quite touching

Entertaining, but needed editing! The same effect could have been achieved with 30 minutes cropped out. Fascinating to realize it's based on a real person's escapades! Audacious!

Good Hanks/Dicaprio movie offers quite a few laughs and some interesting chase sequences, without being at all violent. The film however does lose it's spunk half way through the film, and the entire film becomes repetitive. Thankfully, we have two great performers who are making nice efforts to aid the film.

I just loved this movie. I went in expecting to see an ok movie, but it is really entertaining! Dicaprio is perfect for the part of frank abignale,the con man, as is Tom Hanks in his role as the FBI agent. really a great see.

It was a respectable movie. Surprisingly, DiCaprio did a good job as the main character. Classic great actors Christopher Walken and Tom Hanks are also splendid. The motion picture is a good saga of a man defrauding banks throughout the country and eventually the world. Unfortunately, as with most movies, a love subplot occupies too much of the film. Otherwise, I recommend it to see in the theater or rent it when it comes out in stores.
