O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscThe best Coen Brothers movie so far. They took a big risk with this one and most people I've talked to love it. It is so completely different than the drivel that keeps spewing out Hollywood. I have seen a few of their movies that weren't the greatest but they do roll the dice! Tim Blake Nelson was the gem of this picture and everyone else was perfect as well. Between the music and Clooney I had no desire to see it. Blu-ray Discthis is a pretty good movie. my favorite scene is when they are at the radio station or recording studio and you can see the blind guys reflection on the glass and he is dancing and makin all kinds of funny faces. another is when baby face nelson is being chased by the cops and he takes the "choppa" and starts shootin' at 'em then sees some cows and says "i hate cows more than coppas". makes me laugh every time. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Blu-ray DiscBrilliant Coen Brothers film. proved to me Clooney could act. of course how can you not enjoy a farce based on Homer? anyway the cast was superb featuring a lot of Coen regulars. Stand Outs are Tim Blake Nelson as Delamr(sp) and John Goodman in his small role as Big Dan. as always, a coen quote. "Do not seek the treasure." O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray Disci think this movie is a little more subtle than other comedies. the comedy comes not from plot, really, but from characterization. Clooney is funny because he's so cocky and 'dapper'. hIS Two partners in crime are really funny, too. So many funny lines, but they're subtle, not shoved in yoour face. some people can watch this movie without seeing anything funny at all, but i laughed from beginning to end. Great characters, great movies, great music, too (and i don't even like country that much). And, despite the "yellow-ish" nature of the film, it's very beautiful. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Blu-ray DiscLot's of colorful characters and a good cast with George Clooney, Tim Blake Nelson, John Turturro, Michael Badalucco, John Goodman, Charles Durning, Holly Hunter, Chris Thomas King, and Stephen Root. The characters are rich and colorful. The two standouts are Tim Blake Nelson as Delmar and Michael Badalucco as Baby Face Nelson. It's one of those few films that captures a little place in the past somewhere and just creates this little world with eccentric characters, and everyone is on a quest. When their paths cross, hilarity ensues on a grandiose scale. Every aspect of the cinematography, music, sound, and editing blend to create this movie to absolute perfection. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscI didn't see this until the dvd came out. I wish I had seen it in the theatre because it is one of my all time favorites. A lot of people didn't get the humor, but I did, and I laughed out loud on quite a few occasions. Some people have to have their comedies hit them in the face like a sledgehammer in order to get them, but this one doesn't do that, and that's what I like about it. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? It touted this as a wonderful comedy where you'll laugh from beginning to end. It's two years later now, and I'm still waiting for my first laugh. Let me give you some honest advice, though. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscThis is one of the very best mainstream movies produced in the last ten years. I've seen it five times now, and every time I see it I like it more (it's rare for me to watch a movie more than twice). The music is incredible, the characters are sympathetic, accessible, and oftentimes hilarious, and the script is well-written. That scene at the end with the nooses and the men digging the graves, singing "Lonesome Valley" gives me goose bumps. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

Blu-ray Disci just saw this the other night at the bidding of a friend (thanks, liz!) and i loved it. i saw some of the odyssey in it, but as i'm not a high school english teacher, i was able to enjoy it both in spite of, and because of, the mangling of homer's plot. i kinda wish they'd included the parts about calypso and circe, but oh well. i'm also not some smug suburban jerk who feels he has to run out to the local 'record town' and buy an important soundtrack right after he sees an important movie, so my opinion might actually be worth something. the movie was incredibly entertaining, and i have to say that the acting was the best that i've seen in a long while. george clooney really surprised me- i never liked him before this. even john turturro, who used to annoy me as all heroes of ifc do, was freakin amazing. so was tim blake nelson- where did that guy come from? charles durning, steven root... hell of a good cast. i never saw 'the big lebowski' - i thought the cohen brothers had gone too far with 'fargo' but this is a great, great movie. alright, the soundtrack's f'n amazing, too. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? It does require some suspension of disbelief (like all movies), but for those willing to provide it, it is well worth the effort. There was none, basically this movie was a comedy about 3 guys. Thats it. Why a 2 star rating, cause it did have some funny parts. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscPretty good. I didn't expect freewheeling and wild Ulysses to be played by the straight-faced star of ER and Batman. But Clooney held his role well, as did his two southern friends. I never would have guessed that this was based on The Odyssey- symbols like the KKK meeting were subtle enough that I wouldn't have guessed it to be the cyclops. It was a funny film with an unusual sort of atmosphere to it. The lip-sinking singing was lame. And I wouldn't call it the greatest movie I've seen. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscI absolutely loved this movie and have seen it 3 times now because I want my friends to see it too and have watched it with them. It is not only very very funny, but also very intelligent, with astute observations about our culture and references to literature and classic film (e.g. Wizard of Oz). Basically a road movie set in the depression-era South. The performances by the three leads are outstanding. I have never been a fan of George Clooney before, but I thought he did a hell of a good job in a smart and comic role as the know-it-all, scheming leader of the trio of escaped cons. Kudos also to Tim Blake Nelson as the sweet but dumb (as a bag of hammers) con, and John Turturro as the gangly, angry con of the trio. The music is also wonderful, though I am a fan of bluegrass anyway. But it's not surprising to see this kind of music hit a popular chord - it's sweet, unslick, unaffected and touches our history. George Clooney delivers an excellent character performance. One which I had thought him incapable of. Most of the allusions to the Odyssey are only metaphorical in nature meaning the movie can be enjoyed without one having any knowledge of Homer or his poetry. Group #1 was laughing hysterically from the time the static came on to the time the credits at the end ended. Group #2 was sitting there stone-faced and/or sleeping. Group #3 was occasionally giggling. I was in group #2. The music sucked, the acting was horrible, and the only time I laughed was during the religious talk they had. And throughout the whole freakin' movie, George Clooney looked like he was about to puke from being chained to John Tuturro and Tim Blake Nelson. Their presence might well have been what ruined the movie for me. Please, everyone, for the sake of your sanity and bank accounts, do not buy/rent/think about watching this movie. It was hard to follow the story and even though it was funny, I still found it to be based on nothing and had no point. All-in-all I thought it was a waste of time to watch it, totally absurd and stupid, but not even a funny stupid (like J.Carey) just silly. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscI loved this movie. What an eye the Coen's have for this period (the '30's). I enjoyed Raising Arizona and Fargo, but this one is the best in my opinion. The music and the rural dialect are just perfect. Take this film on its own terms (somewhat surreal) and you'll enjoy it too, I'll bet. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray DiscThis was an enjoyable, unpredictable, completely silly, and somewhat vague parody of Homer's Odyssey. While the film did not feature back-to-back laughs, it still had a few stellar moments of oddball way-out-there humor. With few exceptions, George Clooney, who proves he is really adept at playing this eccentrically intelligent but goofy escaped convict/adventurer, provides most of the real laughs for me. Another surprise was when I found myself really enjoying music of a type I would normally not have expected to like. I went into this one without any forewarning but, once I started to catch the literary allusions scattered throughout, the movie became enjoyable on a kind of "seek and find" level as well. It is a Coen BRothers movie,so you never know what to expect, George Clooney is good, as one of the escapees, i love the fact that along the way they record a song for ten dollars a piece and it ends up a hit record!It is also neat how they happen on diffrent things such as being involved with a famous bank robber,etc. We enjoyed the movie. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? It is actually very complex with wonderful allusions to other movies, works of literature, and popular culture such the Wizard of Oz, Moby Dick, and the early recording industry. It has wonderful satire and is loaded with entendre such as John Goodman the Cyclops of both Homer and the KKK!For anyone educated in literature and the history of popular culture this movie is worthy of repeated viewing. For those less literate in these areas, I would suggest they see something else.I asked my son the meaning of this movie, his reply: "It's very simple Dad, like the Odyssey, it is a symbolic journey through life with all its fun, adventures, misfortunes, and triumphs!" ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil?
