William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...Truly dramatic and a bit corny. The dialogue did not fit in the modern day scene and it destroyed my love for the Shakespearian work. Leo's just not an impressive actor and I don't know what it is about him. I could never understand why many women thought he was/is attractive. The only thing I like about the movie is where Romeo and Tybalt battle. I think Leguizamo is a stunning actor in this movie. His costumes are amazing. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...This is easily the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. I didn't mind the IDEA of making a modern Romeo and Juliet, but this movie bombed it badily. Who had the stupid idea of using the old language with the modern movie? William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...I rewatched this movie about a year ago, and couldn't get past Leo's terrible 'acting'. But when I was a teen, I absolutely loved it, so I'll rate from that perspective, but anyone older than 16 should probably stay away from this movie. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...People either love it or hate it and that's because it strikes a chord. This movie had some of the best costume and set design I've ever seen. I sure hope they had a bunch of fire extinguishers for the vault scene. The soundtrack was also incredible and I'm still trying to find a recording of the opera singing in the death scene. Though it's violent, it's also sharp, exhilarating and a blow to the senses. This is one movie where I thought DiCaprio did some decent acting, once you get past his teen idol facade. Luhrman went out on a limb with this one and I thought he stayed very true to the ambiance that Shakespeare created. I'm sure it shocked some, but it's just so damn creative! ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...Baz Luhrman does have a future as a director. Yes, there are parts of this movie that are well-shot. But the actors are clearly over their heads with the Shakespearean text. Why does everybody yell through this movie? Why does every waking moment have to be filled with blaring uber-cool "soundrack music?" The fast cuts and quick scene shifts were supposed to create an exciting atmosphere but I thought it made the story more complicated than it had to be. However, I am pleased that the director though enough of shakespeare to make this film. Why did he have to turn it into a long music video? William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...Every year I see this film at least once and it never fails to take my breath away. It is an absolutely wonderful film, flaws and all.Baz Luhrmann has to take credit for the vision that he had and the way he executed it. It was pure genius. But the bulk of my appreciation and admiration goes to Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes were simply riveting as the two star-crossed lovers. Never have I seen such esquisite chemistry between two leads, a chemistry that was so vital to the story and it was there BIG time. On their own, they were pretty great but together they are dynamite. Can't wait till the next time I watch it again. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...Romeo and Juliet was a movie created by Baz Luhrman. Although this movie didn't agree with all of Shakespeare's original play--Romeo and Juliet, it did have several good points. One such point was the vows exchanged in the pool. Water is the sign of life and the scene in the pool supported this. I also liked how he created their costumes to match who they really were in the movie. Such as Juliet, who was really an angel to all, and Paris, a guy that represented what everyone wanted to be. This movie wasn't the very best Romeo and Juliet, but it wasn't the worst. One last thing that I liked about this movie was the way the ending. It made the movie more ironic and dramatic. Instead of having Juliet wake up to find Romeo dead, and eventually kill herself, she woke up all happy and then turned sad as she found out what Romeo had just done. Pete Postlewhaite was outstanding as Friar Brown and the tattoo of the cross on his back was a great touch. William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...In a 1996 poll by The San Francisco Chronicle of the year's worst movies, Romeo and Juliet was defined as "joyless" and "dark". But then, what do you expect from a Shakespearean tragedy? I think you really need to be experienced with the almost archaic styles of the three major types of Shakespeare's plays(comedy, tragedy, and history) in order to fully understand it, or even like it. The juxtaposition if the ordinarily circa 1500's play with a modern setting was a clever touch though. ¿Te ha parecido útil o inútil? Tope

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet : Music...I give this film five stars mainly for the acting (especially on the part of the wonderfully talented young Leo DiCaprio) and the art direction. The two young leads are so alive and their passion for one another seems so real.
